Blood Trail: Victory Nelson Private Investigator: Otherworldly Crimes a Specialty
Blood Ties, the TV series comprises 22 episodes and is based on the novels and characters created by Tanya Huff in her Books, Blood Debt. I read all the books as they were published so enjoyed the Blood Ties TV series. As a huge fan I was disappointed when this TV series filmed in Canada ended.
Blood Ties the Series Background
Vicki Nelson was Police Det. and her partner was Det. Celluci until her deteriorating sight forced to leave the department. She was able to start a private detective agency. At the series beginning she encounters the mysterious Henry Fitzroy on her way back from a date.
Blood Ties – The Vicki and Henry Partnership
Henry Fitzroy is a sexy 500-year-old vampire and the bastard son of Henry VII. Vicki makes his acquaintance when they both look for a murderer. They form a loose partnership to investigate all kinds of mainly violent supernatural phenomena. They contend with Voodoo priests, zombies, time loops, an Incan mummy, a man-eating Wendigo, supernatural drugs, Egyptian gods, a Medusa, a fertility clinic that produces unexpected results, Henry’s ex-lover and maker, Henry’s other enemies and the demon -summoner with his evil master.
Blood Ties – Personalities
Vicki is one tough cookie, strong, capable and resists Henry attempts to control her. She also has to contend with Det. Celluci. Henry and Celluci despise one another but come into continual contact as they try to solve unusual crimes. Det. Celluci is Vicki’s more or less love interest, but Henry is seductive. Celluci also has a conflict of interest as he helps Vicki. He finds that he must cover up evidence and keep his current partner in the dark about the unusual nature of some of the crimes. Vicki’s secretary/gofer/research assistant is played by Gina Holden a perky Goth
The Blood Ties series finale was a disappointment, but the rest of the episodes were well written and darkly realistic. It seemed to me that the writers got word that the series was cancelled so at the end of the episode they inserted a scene where Vicki has to decide between Henry and Celluci. Then they leave the audience hanging, because she does not decide. In spite of the ending this is one of my favorite vampire TV series. It is currently in reruns again and I always try to watch. Amazon has the entire 22 episodes available.
